TerraClean Diesel Additives
TerraClean TerraDiesel Fuel Additive – HydroBond plus Cetane
HydroBond is an organic surfactant; it breaks down gums, varnishes, and carbon deposits, reducing them to a size and state where they will harmlessly pass through the fuel system to be completely combusted. It prevents the formation of new deposits in the fuel tank and throughout the fuel system. The surfactant qualities of HydroBond reduce the surface tension of the fuel, allowing the fuel injectors to produce many more, much smaller-sized droplets from the same amount of fuel. These smaller droplets burn more quickly and completely, improving power output and increasing fuel economy while reducing particulate formation (unburned hydrocarbons and soot), which reduces emissions and also reduces the load on emissions devices and DPF’s, leading to fewer regeneration cycles. This further improves fuel economy and reduces maintenance time and cost.
HydroBond has the unique ability to chemically remove water through the chemical mechanism of Hydrogen Polar Bonding. The hydrogen and oxygen atoms of the water molecules are “bonded” to the hydrogen atoms in the “hydrocarbon chain” of the petroleum or bio-based fuel. This “removal” results in additional hydrogen atoms and some oxygen atoms being incorporated into the fuel, producing an “oxygenated” fuel. HydroBond will “disperse” (remove) a volume of water equal to itself.
TerraDiesel Fuel Treatment also contains a cetane improver to further enhance and improve combustion.
TerraClean TerraDiesel Multifunctional Diesel Fuel Treatment (Supplement)
Multifunction Diesel Fuel Treatment, as its name implies, has several important features and many benefits. This should be considered as the best all-season, all-around product for use in diesel engines. It is a combination of components and packages designed to meet most of the needs of new diesel engines, older diesel engines, a wide range of fuels, and users operating under a broad range of conditions. Multifunction is based on the proprietary TerraClean HydroBond technology, which provides the following benefits.
HydroBond
We have added the following to the HydroBond:
- Cetane Improver – Based on industry standards, there is sufficient Cetane Improver to raise the cetane number by 4 to 6 points. This is based on the ASTM CFR test protocol. Raising the cetane number causes the fuel to begin to burn sooner. This allows more time for the fuel to be completely burned in the combustion chamber, which means more power can be produced from a given amount of fuel. Because more of the fuel is combusted more completely, there are fewer particulates (soot) produced, which reduces the load on the emissions system, including the EGR system and DPF.
- Lubricity Improver – Multifunction uses a synthetic lubricity improver. This provides excellent lubricity to all types of diesel and biodiesel fuels. At the levels being used, this will bring the lubricity level of today’s ultra-low sulfur diesel to levels better than were found in the old “high sulfur” diesel fuels. This provides excellent protection for today’s delicate High Pressure Common Rail fuel systems as well as earlier Unit and Mechanical injection systems.
- Stability Agents – Today’s diesel fuels are very complex due to a wide range of crude oil types and sources, dmany new refining systems, and blending requirements brought on by market forces and regulatory mandates. These fuels suffer from problems with both oxidative and thermal stability. In addition, we have found that two separate chemical packages are required to produce a fuel that will maintain its integrity and usability over a period of a year or more. The package we use also works to control the breakdown of biodiesel, which is blended into most diesel fuel sold today.
- Injector Cleaner(s) – Due to a combination of factors including tough-to-refine crude oils, the latest refining technologies including hydro-cracking and hydro-treating, chemicals used to provide lubricity, storage stability, and processes used for some forms of corrosion inhibition, the requirements for fuel injector and fuel system cleaning have become very complex and difficult. Traditional carbon deposits on and around fuel injector tips have been made worse by the use of hard-to-refine crudes and related refining techniques.
Additionally, the use of certain products designed to reduce corrosion in pipelines and storage tanks when used in hydro-cracked fuels actually forms a new type of injector deposit known as IDID (Internal Diesel Injector Deposits) or “metal salts” deposits, requiring two unique chemical packages to clean up existing deposits and prevent new ones from forming. Multifunction combines both of these components in sufficient quantity to quickly clean any internal or external existing deposits and to protect against the formation of any new ones.
- Corrosion inhibition – Today’s fuels tend to pick up and hold more water, which leads to water-based corrosion and acid formation, leading to further degradation of fuel system components. Multifunction contains a powerful corrosion inhibitor package in addition to its water removal capabilities. This provides a high level of protection to the fuel system and engine system components.
- Cold Weather Operability – Multifunction contains a unique formulation for dealing with cold weather conditions. It contains a very effective Cold Flow Improver package designed to work with a broad range of diesel fuels. This co-polymer-based product prevents paraffin waxes from sticking together, which dramatically reduces the temperature where fuel gelling occurs. Typically, we can reduce the gel-point or CFPP (cold filter plug point) of a given fuel by 25 to 35 degrees F. Because most of today’s diesel fuel contains a biodiesel blend, we have included a separate package designed specifically to prevent the thickening and solidifying of glycerin found in biofuels. Furthermore, we have a strong anti-icing package to prevent fuel line and filter icing.
TerraDiesel Multifunction Fuel Treatment is offered in two treatment ratios: a 12 fluid ounce bottle treats 40 US gallons (151 liters) of fuel (1:426); 32 fluid ounce bottle, 2.5 gallon jug, 55 gallon drum, 330 gallon tote all treat at one gallon per 1000 gallons of fuel (1 liter per 1000 liters; 1:1000).
- TerraClean TerraDiesel C-Shot – This is a combination of TerraDiesel Fuel Treatment (HydroBond), a high dose of Diesel Fuel Injector Cleaner, and a very high dose of Cetane Improver.
The purpose of this product is to reduce particulate (soot) formation, thus reducing the load on the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system and DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter). By reducing this particulate load, the DPF requires less active and manual regeneration. This reduces the fuel required for these regenerations and the need for driver or technician intervention to maintain the vehicle (or equipment). This also extends the operational life of the DPF by reducing the amount of ash being produced and stored in the filter. This product has been shown to reduce regen cycles by 80 to 85%.
TerraClean TerraDiesel C-Shot can be used in any diesel engine and in any country. It is designed to be used on a continuous basis (in every tank). This product is currently available in 2.5 gallon, 55 gallon, and 330 gallon sizes and treats at 1:1000.
